Where and how to vote?
Primary method.
Voting takes place in person at polling stations in the municipal district in which the voter is registered.
Alternative method.
A voter wishing to vote elsewhere within Czechia must apply for a voter’s certificate. This certificate can be requested in person directly at the corresponding municipality no later than two days before the date of the election, or by a written request that must arrive at the municipality no later than 4 pm on the eighth day before the election (the deadlines that applied to the 2019 elections and have not yet been confirmed for the 2024 elections). The request may also be returned through a data box or by post with a certified signature. The voter’s certificate allows voting in any electoral district in Czechia. Voting by post, by proxy, or online is not possible.
Polling day requirements.
Voters must confirm their identity at the polling station with an identity card or passport. The same requirements apply to both nationals and EU mobile citizens.
